The <span style=\"color: #6699cc;\">Japanese<br \/>\nCastle<\/span> was a thriving architectural form in medieval Japan as well.<br \/>\nThe most striking example of Japanese castle building is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Himeji_Castle\"><span style=\"color: #6699cc;\">Himeji<br \/>\nCastle<\/span><\/a> a UNESCO world heritage site. Within Kyoto, <span style=\"color: #6699cc;\">Nijo Castle<\/span> is another striking example of Japanese castle construction. From a landscape perspective, the layout of Nijo&#8217;s gardens, moats and impressive stone walls create an interesting contrast from the<br \/>\nmultitude of temple and shrine gardens in Kyoto.<\/p>\n<p>Nijo&#8217;s most striking aspect is the bone of most Japanese gardens, its amazing stone work.
