For those unfamiliar with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Encaustic\" class=\"broken_link\">encaustic<\/a>, it is an ancient<br \/>\ntechnique whereby the artist applies layers of wax and pigments to create a<br \/>\ncomposition. The work may look like a traditional oil painting (at least to my<br \/>\nuntrained eye), or can be applied to three dimensional objects. This national<br \/>\nexhibit with contributions of local artists is excellent.
